About Brew Gazette
Clara Bennett, CQI Q Grader, SCA Roaster
B.S. Food Science, UC Davis
Brew Gazette was founded in 2026 by Clara Bennett to help home baristas and everyday coffee drinkers buy gear that actually earns its place on the counter — without the marketing hype.
About Clara
Clara Bennett is a Coffee Quality Institute (CQI) licensed Q Grader and an SCA-certified roaster with over a decade in specialty coffee — from behind the bar as a competition barista to the roasting room as a green-buyer and production roaster. She has cupped thousands of coffees to the CQI protocol and dialed in espresso on everything from $90 entry machines to commercial three-group setups.
She founded Brew Gazette to translate professional cupping-table standards into plain-English buying advice. Every recommendation comes from real brewing — pulled shots, weighed doses, and side-by-side tastings.
Our Review Process
Every product featured on Brew Gazette goes through a thorough evaluation:
- Hands-on brewing — machines and brewers tested through real daily use, not spec sheets
- Cupping-table standards — extraction, grind consistency, and in-cup quality judged to SCA / CQI protocol
- Build & repairability — evaluated for longevity, serviceable parts, and value over years of use
- User reviews — aggregated feedback from verified purchasers across platforms
- Value analysis — price-to-cup ratio across budget, mid-range, and upgrade tiers
