About Bonavita
Bonavita began in 2011 as an effort to fill a gap in the home specialty coffee market: certified, lab-verified brewing temperature at a price below the commercial-grade machines the category had relied on. The brand was built as a collaboration between Chinese manufacturer Smartco and Washington-based coffee distributor Espresso Supply, and it grew quickly by putting SCA certification -- the Specialty Coffee Association's standard for water temperature, bloom time, and extraction, the same benchmark used to judge café-grade equipment -- into a one-touch home drip machine.
The current lineup runs from the Classic 5-Cup through the Connoisseur and the Enthusiast, all built around the same two ideas: a showerhead design that saturates the full coffee bed for even extraction, and a thermal carafe that holds heat without a hot plate underneath cooking the pot flat.
