About 1Zpresso
1Zpresso was founded in 2017 in New Taipei City, Taiwan, by a group of coffee lovers with engineering backgrounds who set out to build a manual grinder good enough to rival electric machines costing far more. The company designs and manufactures its grinders in-house in Taiwan, including its own burr production, which gives it direct control over the tolerances that determine grind consistency. The brand name is itself a small piece of design thinking: the leading "1" is read in Chinese as "yi", so 1Zpresso is meant to be heard as "Easy-presso."
The company's first hand grinder won a Red Dot Design Award in Germany in 2018, and 1Zpresso has since built out a full model lineup organized by use case -- the J Series for espresso, the K Series as an all-rounder for both filter and espresso, the Q Series for compact travel grinding, and the ZP6 as a dedicated filter-only grinder.
