About Bialetti
Bialetti is the Italian kitchenware company that invented the moka pot. Alfonso Bialetti opened a small aluminum workshop in Crusinallo, in Italy's Piedmont region, in 1919, and in 1933 he designed the octagonal stovetop coffee maker that still carries his name: the Moka Express. The design proved significant enough that the Museum of Modern Art in New York added a Moka Express to its permanent collection, and the pot remains, largely unchanged, one of the most recognized objects in Italian design.
Today the company is headquartered in Coccaglio, near Brescia, and has grown the moka pot line well beyond the original: an induction-ready stainless steel body, a hybrid steel-and-aluminum boiler for glass-top induction kitchens, and a pressure-valve model built to pull real crema from a stovetop.
