nutpods was founded in 2013 by Madeline Haydon in Bellevue, Washington, after she found the dairy-free creamers on the market at the time were either full of sugar and unfamiliar additives or missing from shelves altogether -- a gap she ran into first-hand while pregnant and managing lactose intolerance and gestational diabetes. The company built its creamers around a simple almond-and-coconut base, and every nutpods creamer we checked carries Whole30 Approved, Certified Vegan, Non-GMO Project Verified, and OU Kosher status, with no sodium caseinate or other dairy-derived ingredient on the label -- the thing that keeps many "non-dairy" products from actually being dairy-free.
The lineup has grown well past its original Original creamer: it now spans unsweetened and organic-cane-sugar-sweetened flavors, an organic "Simply" line, a dairy-free Half & Half, oat-based barista milks, and ready-to-drink cold brew, sold nationally through retailers including Whole Foods, Kroger, and Publix. nutpods raised $33 million in 2019 in a round led by VMG Partners, and in January 2024 it was acquired by MPearlRock, a CPG investment platform formed by PearlRock Partners and MidOcean Partners and backed by Kroger.
