About Stanley
Stanley 1913 traces back to September 2, 1913, when inventor William Stanley Jr. patented the all-steel vacuum flask that gave the brand its name. The Stanley product line passed through several owners over the following decades, including Landers, Frary & Clark and Aladdin Industries, before Pacific Market International (PMI) acquired both the Stanley and Aladdin brands in 2002. Today Stanley 1913 operates as a PMI Worldwide Brand headquartered in Seattle, with a product range built around that original vacuum-insulation design: drinkware, coolers, food jars, and camp cookware.
The brand's highest-profile product now is the Quencher tumbler, introduced in 2016 and since reworked with the FlowState lid we tested in our travel mug guide. Built on Stanley's double-wall vacuum insulation, this press keeps coffee hot for around four hours, longer than any other press in our test group, so it still pours a hot mug at a campsite or job site an hour after brewing. The all-steel, BPA-free body is effectively indestructible and shrugs off drops and packs, which is exactly why it is our default recommendation for camping, RVs, and outdoor use. The tradeoff is a coarser mesh filter that leaves more sediment than a kitchen-focused press, and there is no glass to watch the brew through, so you steep by the clock.
