About OXO
OXO was founded in New York in 1989 by Sam Farber, after he noticed his wife Betsey struggling to hold a standard vegetable peeler because of mild arthritis in her hands. Working with the design firm Smart Design, Farber built the original Good Grips line around oval handles molded from soft, ribbed thermoplastic rubber that were easier for anyone to grip, not just people with limited hand strength. That universal-design approach became the company's identity, and in 2004 OXO was acquired by Helen of Troy Limited, which still owns the brand today.
